Stefan is a PhD economist and studied in Tübingen (Germany) and Eugene (Oregon, USA). He has been involved in small company financing since 1993. Stefan started his carrier at KfW Group structuring public financing programs for venture & private equity in the early days of this industry in Germany.

In 1998 he moved to TH (Technology Holding), one of the most successful VC-investors in Germany. When 3i Group acquired TH in 2000, he was head of the TH-office in Stuttgart.

Later he was named member of the management board of 3i Group in Germany and, in addition, became managing director of a number of fund vehicles for 3i in Germany.

Since 2002 Stefan, together with Hansjörg Ruof, led the 3i German Portfolio Team (DACH-Region). Both took responsibility for more than 130 companies and the portfolio management team. He contributed to significant proceeds and profits to 3i’s German investment business in a difficult environment post the 2000 dot-com crisis.

In 2008 Stefan left 3i to form with Hansjörg Ruof his own business, the partnership BBP – Beratung, Beteiligung, Portfolio Management. In this capacity Stefan was advising investors in their portfolio management with focus on value creation. In some cases he also acted as CEO appointed by the shareholders. In those mandates he gathered in depth experience in direct management of small- and medium-sized enterprises backed by financial investors or family offices.

In his leisure time, Stefan enjoys reading good literature, playing the piano and sports with his family.

Marko Maschek combines an engineering education and practice with entrepreneurial thinking. He grew up in the Stuttgart area and was already a committed employee in the family-owned company during his school days.

After completing his military service, Marko Maschek studied electrical engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). This was followed by post-graduate studies in information technology as a scholarship holder at the INSA engineering school in Lyon with a focus on signal, speech and image processing.

At Cambridge Consultants, Marko Maschek worked in consulting and at Robert Bosch in the development of algorithms and software. While working, he earned an MBA from Cambridge University. At Bosch he patented several developments in the field of restraint systems.

In 1997 Marko Maschek started as project manager at 3i Germany in Frankfurt and later Stuttgart. There he made and accompanied investments in small technology companies such as web.de AG, Actelion AG, Openshop AG and Heiler Software AG, which successfully went public.

From 2000, Marko Maschek was part of the team in Boston that initiated the US investment business for 3i. He became a partner in the USA in 2003 and was responsible for the semiconductor investment sector on the East Coast. In this function he also became a member of the investment committee for venture capital transactions worldwide.

After 8 years as Partner & Co-Founder at Pinova, he established, together with Stefan Elsser and Hansjörg Ruof, Marondo Capital as one of the first private equity growth funds in Germany.

Marko Maschek reads technical and scientific literature, is interested in history and politics and, together with his wife and three children, enjoys mountain and ski sports.

Hansjörg holds a degree in engineering and obtained a second degree in economics from the University in Munich. Coming from an entrepreneurial family background, he has always been involved with small- and medium-sized businesses.

Starting as a consultant in a Roland Berger subsidiary specializing in mid-sized companies, he became a private equity manager, first with BayBG and later with Technology Holding (TH), one of the most eminent technology investors in Germany.

When 3i Group acquired TH in 2000, Hansjörg became part of 3i Germany where he invested in a number of technology companies, organized several IPOs and carried out numerous strategic sales.

Hansjörg Ruof and Stefan Elßer were responsible for running 3i’s German portfolio team from 2005 until 2008 with more than 130 companies. Both set up a sophisticated portfolio management system and contributed significant proceeds to 3i´s German investment business in what is today the largest sales process in German private equity.

Hansjörg has managed many deals covering the complete life-cycle of investments in the private equity industry. He has a wealth of experience in investments and portfolio management, including restructurings, additional funding and the preparation and execution of exits. Realized exits include IPOs (CAA and Nanogate), trade sales (Interbrand Pro, CoCreate and Rodcraft), as well as secondary buy-outs and multi-case secondary transactions.

In 2008 Hansjörg Ruof founded BBP, together with his partner Stefan Elßer, following the idea to offer hands-on support in portfolio management to equity investors and to management teams alike. On behalf of BBP, he has been acting in different management and supervisory board roles where he achieved successful turnarounds and growth success stories.

Hansjörg is highly active within the German private equity industry and has a broad network of contacts.

Dominik Mühl began his professional life with an apprenticeship as an IT systems electronics technician at Compaq Computers. After completing his military service, Dominik Mühl studied business administration at the EBS University of Business and Law in Oestrich Winkel, where he graduated with a degree in business administration specializing in business informatics. As part of his studies, he spent semesters abroad in Stellenbosch, South Africa and Chicago, USA.

After completing his studies, Dominik Mühl started as an analyst at Citigroup. He then moved to Carlsquare and became a project manager. He was involved in numerous M&A transactions and financing rounds in the technology sector and SMEs.

In 2011, Dominik Mühl founded supermarkt.de AG, the leading online grocery delivery service at the time. He then moved to the investor side at Capnamic in 2013. There he co-invested the highly successful Fund I. Among other things, he supported Capnamic’s investment in the mobile measurement & tracking startup adjust, which later achieved a unicorn exit.

At ProSiebenSat.1 Media (P7S1), Dominik Mühl accompanied investments in digital companies. Among other things, he was responsible for the dating segment with which P7S1, together with minority investor General Atlantic, pursued an international buy-and-build strategy. He also played a leading role in the launch of the P7S1 growth platform SevenGrowth, with which he made the first investment in Urban Sports Club.

Fabian Kiechle supports Marondo as a consultant in acquisition and business development. He has been working in the medium-sized investment business since 2014.

During his time at Pinova and Findos, he was responsible for a large number of investments, in particular succession situations and growth financing of medium-sized companies in German-speaking countries. Fabian supports portfolio companies in the implementation of their growth plans through acquisitions and strategic work.

Mr. Kiechle studied business administration at the Technical University of Munich and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro with a focus on finance and computer science and holds a bachelor’s degree in process and energy engineering.

Maximilian Minners gained his first professional experience in financial auditing at one of the major auditing firms. He dealt with corporate finance during an internship at a venture capital fund and at the Venture Capital Club of Catolica Lisbon.

In his free time, Maximilian enjoys sports, plays chess and never misses an opportunity to do winter and water sports. He is a licensed ski instructor and has been the Baden-Württemberg champion in field and indoor field hockey several times.

After training as a bank clerk and studying economics at the University of Hohenheim, Ms. Kratz joined Stuttgarter Volksbank in 1994 as an investment advisor. This was followed by work in the credit department at Bankhaus Bauer and project work at 3i.

Since 2012, Ms. Kratz has worked as an assistant for BBP and in 2019 took over the assistance, administration and marketing at Marondo Capital GmbH.
